DJ Geri

For starters: tell us something about yourself:
My name is Gerard, and I use abbreviations to produce trance as dj geri and progressive as visions. I am 26 years old and I have been 11 years playing in clubs and I am 4 years into producing. Now I am working 100% in my own study and trying to improve day to day and I also work to maintain my whims. My others hobbies they are working with and on computers. Surfing on the Internet is really fantastic.

Who are your favourite artists ?
I started off in the nineties, at that moment the king sound was hardcore rave and hard trance like edm records and fog area were the hot labels. Today my influences are very different, I like dj tiesto, armin van buuren, paul van dijck etc. I also like melodic progressive. Some examples of my favourite producers: gabriel and dresden, mic burns, markus schulz. I am open to new sounds and tendencies for electro-house, minimal, etc…

What equipment are you using to produce your music?
I started with a pc and cubase , but the software that I liked most, was Reason. The way to work with reason 3 is excellent. Since a short time I use a power mac G5 that works with logic 7 and reason 3 to rewire. I also use many vst like vanguard or korg, legacy collection etc. I admire the stability of mac os, it is such a very good platform. As controller I have the midiman oxygen 8, and to listen to tracks I have a monitoring samson 65.

Why are you a copyleft artist?
I think that the whole bunch of free webs downloaders are perfectly made, in order to make publicity for new and beginning artists. Having the opportunity to let everybody downloading your tracks is very good for the amateurs producers. Thanks to webs like Dance-Industries, seven of my tracks have been published and are on-line. There is a big difference between the before Internet times and today, before everything was so very difficult. To make promotions was horrible.
I have been uploading my music on the web approximately for a year. To me those that I like most are Dance-Industries and ctg. Ctg allows music reviews made by ordinary people. Those reviews are reasonably impartial, and a good promotion. On the other hand Dance-industries has more tracks, the design and feel of the site is good. Dance-Industries has good artists on its site.

How do you think music industry will evolve?
Well, during the last years a lot of labels have closed their doors, due to the piracy. On the one hand the internet has been good to starting artists, on the other hand the net has been one of the greater causes of the slowing down of music business. I think that in the future we will buy all our music on the net with downloads; since it is also more economic for the users who buy music. I certainly hope that the vinyl does not die, I love more playing with vinyl. The smaller labels sometimes have a site where they not only sell vinyls, they also sell downloads to very good price.

Which is your best track and could you let us know how you created this beauty?
Well, very difficult question, (jejejeje) since for me, every track brings different feelings with it. Since you are insisting, one of the best ones it would be…..dj geri -free air There is a clip in http://www.dance-industries.com/view_track.php?ID=10418 and original mix (paying) inhttp://www.beatport.com/dj+Geri. I can only recommend you and everybody who reads this interview to listen to all my tracks.

The free air is a track with a very good bass and a melodic trance.

Under my second artist name visions I recommend -deep- tribal house and progressive house there is a very good clip on http://www.dance-industries.com/view_track.php?ID=9980 and original mix (paying) on http://www.beatport.com/visions.

In both cases I programmed the sounds in reason and afterwards passed it passes to logic. To treat them I had to sequencing them in logic.

Best track ever made (can be from anybody)?
I believe that I have many favourite tracks, but I will give a couple: the age of love-the age of love- and cherrymoon trax tracks-house of house-.
These are historical tracks!!!!

Thank you for the interview
