Copyleft music : Unsigned artists and copyright free MP3 music

Well, not much to say. My name is Wim , I am 39 years young I’m married and have children.
I live in Rillaar , Belgium. My life is run by two main factors. Music and technology. For the last 15 years i am employed as a computer technician. On the fun side i was doing some Motorcoss and started a producer career under the name TrackX.
After a few years I changed the project name into Phase2 , because of a legal issue. Around 2001 I was playing with the idea of starting a Copyleft artist promotion platform. A year later I joined up with Marc van Steyvoort and we started Dance-Industries.

Who are your favourite artists ?
Tough question, I got lots of favourites in multiple genre�s. If I have to choose I would say Trance is my biggest love and I would choose Rank-1 as my favourite artists. But like I said , I’m also a fan of funky and deep house. The tracks that means the most in my life is not even a dance track , but a rock track . Lynard Skynard – Sweet home Alabama. This brings back memories.
On a daytime basis I listen to music about 4 hours a day. I heard zillions of tracks that where incredible.

What equipment are you using to produce your music?
I used to have a fairly big hardware studio, but the last few years most of it is replaced by virtual elements.
At this moment I use:
Two AMD ATHLON 64 3500+ PC�s equipped with dual screens and ST-AUDIO C-Port 2000 soundcards.
The two PC�s are running Cubase SX 3.0
Yamaha An1X
Acces Virus B
Roland JP-8080
Roland JV-1080
Roland PC 200 Midicontroller
Dual channel amplifier and Jamo GF-15 monitors.
A collection of VST effects and instruments.
The virtual digital enviroment is getting better and better with every leap in Computing technology. So one day we wil be able to speak of a real ” Studio in a box ”

Why are you a copyleft artist?
To be honnest i am Copyleft because its the only real existing status for most artists. The copyright world is generated by commerciel ideas , not by music loving producers. We all experienced the fake world most labels are trying to force up.
So copyleft is the only concept , where artists can try to proof themselves without getting frustrated and put down because they do not know the right people or visit the right places. If its about the music scene , and not the money scene , then copyleft is the way to go. ( PS: If someone wants to send me a few thousand dollars ..no problem , I love money just as much as the next fellow 

How do you think music industry will evolve?
Very simple in my opinion. Every year the productions tripple. Every year about half as much tracks are being signed. This cant go on much longer. Most of the labels are reverting to lucrative E-Shop business. Exept for the big names there is not much of a label scene left. You cant have 20.000 Dj�s playing 5 million tracks you know ? Within a few years Artists will have a chance to prove themselves online because labels will revert to Copyleft music platforms to retrieve music that still can generate return on investment. The good and the bad will then be filtered by knowhow and talent. Not by ” Who you know , and what you got “.

Which is your best track and could you let us know how you created this beauty?
Thats a difficult question. Probably ” Sunscape ” You will not find it on copyleft platforms because it is signed by a dutch label. I alway create the tracks in a same manner. I start of with an idea, lay down the percussion an bassdrum and the rest builds up like a puzzle. I try a zillion things , and the parts that work actually build themselves. When a track starts to take shape everything falls in place by itselves. I can’t discribe it. Its like the track is in my head allready , even before i realise it.

Best track ever made (can be from anybody)?
The track that could be rated as the best induvidual track I ever heard , is a copyleft track on Dance-Industries.
Odessa Ambience by Messier 87 ( track id: 1033) I listen to this chillout track very often . even after a few years , and it still gives me goosebumbs. Awesome production. A shame this never hit the stores. I would have purchased it on the spot.
